Essential Functions:

Maintains the care, maintenance and cleanliness of the pools and pool areas; Assists with the monthly cleaning of the pools and pool area.
Pays close attention to details to ensure accuracies in all aspects of the work day’s assignments are completed.
Keeps up to date records for the Daily Log/Summary Reports.
Rotates with other Lifeguards to work directly with the students in the pool(s).
Manages accurate records of student progress.
Assists students outside of the pool (on the pool deck or locker rooms) as needed.
Follows through with instruction from the Water Safety Instructor and implements the lesson plan, organization and activities (when directly working in the water with classes).
Enforces all pool and facility rules and regulations.
Supervises all students (swimmers: beginners to advance) during swim periods.
Works with the Coordinator of the Aquatic Center and Water Safety Instructor on a on-going basis to upgrade, improve and refine individual teaching skills related to teaching effective swimming lessons to various age groups and various skill level.
Responds to emergency situations in a professional manner and documents all incidents in a timely manner; Shares information with those who need to know.
Follows the policies and procedures of Overbrook School for the Blind.
All other duties as assigned.


High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 1 year of experience with Special Needs and/or Visually Impaired students.
Current Certification in Advanced Lifesaving and/or Lifeguard Training from the American Red Cross, YMCA or Ellis and Associates.
CRP/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid are required.
Must be able to hear an active victim’s cry for help, see a passive victim in trouble and respond in a timely manner.
Communication skills (oral and written) and confidence in conveying information to all types of members of the community, including teachers, administrators, other staff members and students.
Ability to work as a team member and handle frequent interruptions.
Demonstrates good judgment and dependability.
Ability to remain alert, attentive and responsible.
Ability to complete the required 12 laps for Lifeguard Certification and Re-Certification Course.
Basic Computer Skills.
Current PA Driver’s License.

Salary Range
Stating salary is 23, 250 – 24,460
